Tenchi in Tokyo Episode 03: Long Distance Lunacy (Pandemonium! The Long Distance Game is the Love Game)
Ryoko tries to sneak in, but realizes that it's blocked. She tries to punch her way through, but can't quite get it. Tenchi, on the other hand, feels the shock and thinks it's an earthquake, so he hides under the sheets and unfolds the comforter. This unintentionally lets Ryoko through. Tenchi, getting fed up, throws Ryoko back through the gateway and tells her never to come to Tokyo unless he calls her first. Ryoko is devastated, but Tenchi wonders if he was too hard on her. Rather than dwell on it, he has to leave because he's late for his morning chores. Back at the house, Sasami and Washu wonder what Ryoko is doing. Washu realizes that if the comforter is folded, no one can get through. She does, however, understand why Tenchi did it. Sasami wonders if they will be able to see Tenchi. Ayeka starts to get paranoid while Ryoko just sits there in shock. Washu says that as long as the comforter is folded, there is nothing she can do. This doesn't sit will with Ryoko and she demands that Washu do something about it. She says that she'll see what she can do. Tenchi is at the Tsuchida shrine doing chores and keeping the place clean. Umanosuke shows up and comments on how hard Tenchi is working. He also says that since he's not inheriting the shrine it has nothing to do with him. He then tells Tenchi that he needs to hurry or he'll be late for school. Tenchi makes it to school just in time as small devices start landing in strategic places. They start transmitting pictures back to the Masaki's house in Okayama. Washu shows the girls her "Mr. Surveillance" ultra-compact spy cameras. The girls are impressed with Washu's work. The cameras report on Tenchi's every movement from when he's in class, playing games with his friends, and changing clothes. The girls don't care as long as they know what he's doing. Sasami realizes this and feels that Ryoko and Ayeka are just being rude. Everything goes fine until they see Tenchi and Sakuya together. Yugi also realizes this and says that she can never get bored watching the events transpire. Meanwhile, some poor sap is getting dumped by his girlfriend via cellphone. His is visibly upset and throws his cellphone down, smashes it, and runs away screaming. The phone, however, comes alive and a very odd looking spirit comes alive and places a ban on all long-distance relationships. As he does so, this wrecks havoc on Washu's cameras. She discovers that they are all goofing off and picking up women. One camera is snoozing in a tree, another is parasailing, and another is chasing after a butterfly. Washu doesn't know what's causing the malfunction. The cameras fulfill the spirits commandment and start destroying cellphones and cause any sorts of interference of long-distance relationships. Washu still doesn't know what's going on. The girls are waiting and finally get some new images. However, they are distortions of what is actually happening. Tenchi is actually carrying some desks up a flight of stairs, but the message that gets back is that he's about to be pushed off a cliff by a cow and a hippo. Another has Tenchi actually playing soccer, but it's reported that he's locked in a cage and about to get killed by some monsters or turned into an ogre at Onigashima while being hit with small round things. Ryoko is getting cheesed and demands that Washu fix the problem. She agrees and presses a few keys on her computer only to see Tenchi with his head in Sakuya's lap. The girls go into shock when seeing this, but Tenchi is actually sitting on a park bench with Kazuhiko and having some ice cream. Tenchi has to go to the shrine and complete his chores. Ryoko is getting even more pissed and Ayeka is motionless. Washu can't take it anymore and goes to her lab to find out what's going on. Another image comes up and it's Tenchi putting on a pink elephant costume and starts writing calligraphy. Sasami thinks its very cute and becomes mesmerized by the image, but Tenchi is actually sweeping the walkway. Ryoko wants to go to Tokyo, but she can't as that would be against Tenchi's wishes. Tenchi is now selling items at the temple. He sells a horse prayer token to a female, but the girls see Tenchi dressed in a horse costume giving the female a ride on his back. Ryoko finally loses it and breaks the table. Washu then comes out and says that she's discovered that something or someone is jamming the camera's signals. Ryoko wants to know where it's coming from, but Washu thinks it's coming from somewhere between Okayama and Tokyo. That's enough for Ryoko and she asks Sasami and Ryo-oki to take her, but Sasami tells Ryoko that they can't go to Tokyo. Ryoko says that she can't let this go on and tells Sasami that they will stay out of Tokyo. Sasami asks Ryo-oki if she's up to it and she transforms into her ship form and they're off. Ryoko said she doesn't care who it is as they played her for a sucker and they WILL pay for it. The spirit senses that someone is coming and goes to intercept them. He shows himself to Ryoko and Sasami. Sasami says that they are near Aichi prefecture and not Tokyo, so it's okay. The spirit introduces himself as Yoshiaki Zumino, the Cellular Phone Spirit. Ryoko doesn't find it amusing and Sasami thinks the name is dull. Zumino fires some bolts at the girls, but due to Ryoko's love for Tenchi, the bolts are ineffective. Ryoko proceeds to pound the demon and blows him out of the sky. As he's falling, Zumino yells that he's sorry. As Tenchi is walking down a patch, a camera falls on his head. The camera freaks out and leaves. Yugi says "Now that's more like it." as she appears to be causing a rift. Washu says that she'll make some more cameras, but they will be better ones. Tenchi appears through the gateway entrance and offers them some candy he got from Tsuchida. Ayeka breaks out of her trance and pulls Tenchi through. Ryoko approaches, but she doesn't do anything. She has a watery eye look and is just happy to see that Tenchi is okay. |
