Tenchi in Tokyo Episode 06: Play Date (An Invitation, Into the Labryinth of a Strange World)
Tenchi unfolds the comforter and allows Sasami and Ryo-oki to pass through the gateway. Sasami is highly upset because the other girls tried to steal the 17,534 yen she and Ryo-oki made while entertaining the crowd in Tokyo. Washu needed it for more "guinea pigs," since Tenchi wasn't around. Ayeka needed it for a beauty kit. Ryoko wanted it for spending money. Mihoshi and Kiyone needed it to get the GP ID's, handcuffs, and guns out of hock. Sasami was scared because they were all so pushy about wanting the money, so she ran away. Tenchi couldn't believe what they did, but tells Sasami that she can't stay with him forever because he has school the next day and his duties at the Tsuchida shrine as well. Sasami understands and decides that she will spend the money. Tenchi agrees to take her around Tokyo. Yugi watches the two and summons Tsugaru. She remarks that an "interesting girl" has come along and wonders if she will play with her. She decides to invite Sasami to her world. Meanwhile, Tenchi and Sasami are shopping. Sasami wants to buy some elaborate chocolates while Ryo-oki sees a cart full of carrots and dives towards it, but they aren't real. They all have a good laugh and Tenchi remarks that they are almost on a date which makes Sasami blush. They continue walking, but Yugi appears behind them. Sasami has the "someone is watching us feeling" and turns around, but Yugi has disappeared. By now, Tenchi is having trouble keeping up with Sasami, who is going from store to store. She eventually runs into an antique shop. As she enters, the door becomes blocked off with bricks, but she doesn't notice. Tenchi, who eventually catches up, doesn't know which shop Sasami has entered. Tsugaru appears as the store's clerk. Ryo-oki takes an instant disliking to her, but Sasami ignores her and continues to browse. Tenchi, outside, feels someone tap him on the shoulder. It's Sakuya and she's shopping too. She asks Tenchi to talk with her for a moment. Sasami sees a music box she likes. As she reaches for it, Yugi reaches for it as well. The music starts playing and the two glass figures (two lovers holding hands) change into Tenchi and Sakuya, but they are not holding hands. Back at home, Ryoko is getting hungry and comments on how she misses Sasami, or rather, her cooking. Ayeka says that it's everyone's fault for trying to take Sasami's money. Ryoko yells at Ayeka for trying to exclude her from the attempted theft, but she's too hungry to fight. Mihoshi volunteers to cook, but Kiyone describes the restaurant debacle and puts a stop it. Suddenly, Washu (in kitchen garb) walks out with a steaming, but covered, dish. The others didn't realize that Washu could cook and Washu says that she can't, but decided to give it a try. A couple of tentacles come out from under the cover followed by some more appendages and then some eyes - four of them. Back at the antique shop, Yugi asks if Sasami likes the music box. The pair introduce themselves to each other and start playing together. Sasami buys the music box as Yugi says "We're friends, right?" Sasami, stunned by the comment, says yes. Yugi invites Sasami to come to her place to play, but she is hesitant to go. A mirror appears behind Yugi and she goes through it. Sasami eventually goes in as well and finds herself in a long brick hallway. Yugi tells her to follow, but the floor and walls disappear. Sasami wakes up in Yugi's world and Yugi says "Shall we play here?" Sasami remarks on how dark the place is and Yugi is taken aback by the remark. Sasami wants to leave. She takes Yugi's hand and starts running. A shadow is following them. It's Tsugaru dressed in a pirates outfit (complete with eye patch). She appears in front of them and tells them that they can't leave the "mirror world." She lunges at them with a saber, but Sasami grabs Yugi and they run away. Meanwhile, in the courtyard, Tenchi is startled by something Sakuya said. Sakuya is looking down at her feet. We pull back and see Tenchi say something to Sakuya, but we can't hear it. Sakuya runs away and Tenchi looks upset. The music box falls to the ground and the two glass figures break apart. Sasami and Yugi fall to the ground. Sasami yells at Tsuruga to let them go. She will not because she wants to play some more. Sasami tells her that she's not joking, but Tsuruga tells them in order to leave, Sasami must die. Tsuruga takes another dive with her saber, but Sasami dodges. Ryo-oki bites Tsuruga's hand and she drops the saber. She pulls another blade from her sleeve and throws it at Yugi. Sasami protects her and gets injured. Ryo-oki gets pissed and transforms into her pink mecha-cabbit and whacks her away. Tsuruga leaves. Sasami asks Ryo-oki to make an exit and she blasts the mirror. They emerge on the street in front of the store and the store disappears. Tenchi arrives and sees the music box and recalls the conversation he just had with Sakuya. She had asked him to go steady, but he he nervously declined saying that he wasn't in a position to do that right now and apologizes. Sakuya thinks she's being turned down and runs away. Yugi tells Sasami that they will meet again and runs off leaving Tenchi, Sasami, and Ryo-oki in front of the former antique shop. Back at the house everyone is STILL hungry. Ryoko mutters Sasami's name while everyone else yells "Please come back!" |
