Tenchi in Tokyo Episode 09: The Guardians of Old (The Underground Vestiges That Bring Nightmares)
Ryoko appears and wants to watch "Wild Samurai Lone Journey 5" and grabs the remote from Ayeka. The two begin to fight, but Ryo-oki wants to play some video games. Ryoko tells her to wait until later. Meanwhile, Washu appears and wants to watch a science show called "Science for Good Kids." Kamidake comments on how he would like to watch "Fun Cooking in Three Minutes for Men." Azaka chastises him and says that "a warrior displays no weakness even when starving." To appease everyone, Washu has invented a TV that replicates itself. Now, everyone can watch their own programs without hogging a single television. However, the TV continues to replicate and gets so big, it causes the living room to get destroyed. Washu is the only one affected. Azaka and Kamidake protected Ayeka from the explosion. They tell her that no matter where she is, they will be there to protect her. Ryoko transported herself somewhere else and Ryo-oki transformed into Mecha-oki to protect Sasami. Sasami points to the TV and tells everyone to look. Tenchi is in the background of a TV report at a newly discovered archeological dig with his class. Mihoshi and Kiyone are there as well. A reporter says that the site was discovered when an earthquake revealed part of it three months ago. Now that Ryoko and Ayeka know where Tenchi is, they try to go there. Ryoko tries to fly, but is stopped by Azaka. Ayeka goes through the inter-dimensional gateway, but folds the comforter before Ryoko can get through. Ayeka is ecstatic and goes to meet Tenchi for a date. At the dig, Tenchi and his friends are whining about being treated like grade schoolers. Sakuya's friends are concerned about her. She tells them there is nothing to worry about, but Tenchi is staring at her. Tenchi's friends, Kazuhiko and Umanosuke, are searching for some artifacts. They rough house a bit, but fall through a weak spot in the ground. Yuugi, who is watching from above, is joined by Matori who comments that someone has stumbled into Yuugi's bedroom. Yuugi says "It's not my bedroom. It was my grave!" Tenchi wants to know where they are as do his friends. Umanosuke is more concerned about getting out of the new place they've discovered. Kazuhiko wants to turn it into his own kingdom and make Tenchi and Umanosuke his ministers. Umanosuke tells Kazuhiko that if they don't get out, they'll spend the rest of their lives there. He dreams that the three of them are now old (complete with white hair and beards) and are just sitting on a log talking about the weather.Ayeka is on the train going to the dig. However, it's way too crowded for her. The train makes a stop in Ogikubo, but it's not her stop. She is forced out by a crowd. Tenchi and his friends are exploring. Kazuhiko is still talking about making it a shrine, but Umanosuke tells him to face facts. They come to a what appears to be a marker. Tenchi places his hand on it and sees many Jurain priests performing a ceremony sealing an "evil one" into a great stone. They also pray misfortune to anyone who breaks the seal. Tenchi's teacher is told that the three of them are gone. Rumors spread, but some think that they snuck away. Sakuya begins to worry. Tenchi's teacher thinks that they may have been swept away to a mysterious world. Ayeka appears and asks a worker if she's seen Tenchi. It is Mihoshi and she runs to greet Ayeka, but steps on many fossils on the process. Kiyone is very peeved.Tenchi and his friends are looking for a way out. They come across a sarcophagus. Tenchi wonders if this is where the "evil one" is buried. He notices that the seal has been broken by a large boulder. Yuugi comments that if that rock hadn't fallen during the earthquake, she would still be sleeping in there. Matori asks Yuugi what she's going to do. Yuugi says that she will do nothing as there are a "couple of interesting people in there."Kazuhiko is sitting on what appears to be a throne. He still wants to make Tenchi and Umanosuke his ministers in his shrine. The throne starts to levitate. Tenchi and Umanosuke are starting the freak, but Kazuhiko has no clue as to what is happening. The sludge comes off to reveal two Jurain guardians! Tenchi wonders what Azaka and Kamidake are doing there. The guardians awaken and notice that the seal of the sarcophagus was destroyed and that the "evil one" has escaped the Jurai seal. Tenchi is shocked to learn that the tomb was made by Jurains. The guardians tell Tenchi and his friends to return to the sarcophagus and that if they don't comply, they will be forced back. Umanosuke has no clue as to what they are talking about. Kazuhiko tells them to leave it to him. He approaches the guardians and does a rather silly dance proclaiming friendship. The guardians cannot comprehend what Kazuhiko is saying and determine that his dance is dangerous. They attack the boys. On the surface, Ayeka, Mihoshi, and Kiyone are searching for Tenchi. Mihoshi wonders how anyone could get lost in a dig and wonders if they fell down a hole. Kiyone thinks Mihoshi is the only one capable of doing that. Mihoshi calls the remark "mean" and says that while she may be a little clumsy, it doesn't mean she trips over everything. Mihoshi trips. Before she can fall down the hole (conveniently made by Tenchi and his friends) Ayeka and Kiyone grab her, but they all fall in. The boys, still running from the guardians, come to a dead end. The guardians give them one last warning to return to the sarcophagus. Tenchi realizes that the guardians think that he and his friends are the ones who were sealed into the sarcophagus. Kazuhiko calls the guardians morons, but the guardians think that meant a rejection of the warning and they will now terminate the boys. Mihoshi and Kiyone fall on the guardians while Ayeka lands in a nearby tree. The guardians think that they are accomplices and determine that the probability of escape has increased. They will begin their contingency plan. They fire a shot at Tenchi and Ayeka, but Ayeka creates a shield. The guardians are shocked. Ayeka announces herself as the First Princess of Jurai and that the guardians should not point their weapons at a member of the Royal Family. The guardians do a bio-check on Ayeka and determine that she is telling the truth and stand down. Ayeka orders them to leave and they comply. Ayeka is curious to know why two guardians, especially the old types, are on earth. Tenchi shows her the sarcophagus and she says that it's a Jurain Seal Temple. Matori is disappointed that it's over. Yuugi says that it's to be expected when a royal Jurain shows up, but she does have a trick up her sleeve. Mihoshi is looking at the guardians when the come back to life only saying "Terminate!" Kiyone thinks that Mihoshi touched something, but she didn't. The guardians begin to attack. Ayeka tells them to leave, but the guardians continue. Kiyone begins to fire her gun, but Mihoshi forgot hers. Ayeka projects a shield, but the guardians are too strong. She screams and they are heard by Azaka and Kamidake. The leave the Masaki shrine and head for the temple. Ayeka's shield is getting weaker and she finally collapses. However, Azaka and Kamidake arrive just in time to protect the princess. They see the old guardians and begin to fight with them. The fight is basically the guardians ramming each other. Ayeka orders her guardians to finish it. They open up to reveal powerful guns and blast the older guardians into submission. Ayeka still wonders who or what was sealed on earth. The temple was built by Jurains. Tenchi does not look pleased. He wonders who came to earth 3,500 years ago. Back on the surface, Tenchi and his friends are scolded by the teacher. Kazuhiko says that they were creating his own shrine. Umanosuke tells him to shut up.Yuugi says that she had fun. Matori asks if it brought up bad memories and Yuugi says "Maybe." Yuugi says that she wants to bring her castle forward, but that there is still a lot to do before she can. |
