Tenchi in Tokyo Episode 16: Carnival! (Cherry Blossoms Scatter, The Multifacets of Love in Waltz)
Nobuyuki is looking for his stash of money. Ayeka said that she didn't find it (in the previous episode), but she did. He says that it's impossible. He's tearing his library apart looking for it. He asks Sasami if she's seen it, but she freaks and says that she didn't see an envelope with money in it. Mihoshi stuffed her bag with snacks. Kiyone tells her that they're not going for fun and that they only have ¥500 to spend on snacks. Mihoshi starts asking if apples, banana's, tangerines, watermelons, and coconuts would be considered snacks. Kiyone gets fed up and smashes the watermelon over Mihoshi's head and tells her not to bring them along. Ayeka says that it's time to go and have Tenchi set the record straight about his relationship with Sakuya. Ryoko tells Ayeka that the whole thing is stupid. Tenchi went to Tokyo to train and that there's no way an uptight guy like Tenchi would fall for a girl like Sakuya. She also says that Tenchi has his own friends now and that if Ayeka told Tenchi she did out of love, Tenchi would get mad at her. Ryoko says that she has faith in Tenchi. Ayeka says Ryoko has a point and her head knows that's true, but her heart needs to know for sure. The festival has started. People are having fun. Tenchi is at his booth making Crepes. Tsuchida comes up carrying a big fish and some other groceries. He says that he's doing it for his girlfriend and was going to tell her that he loves her at the wrap party. Sakuya's friend says that it's nice that her boyfriend is helping them out. Sakuya seems a bit perturbed and says that Tenchi isn't her boyfriend. Sakuya's friend says she's going to tell him at the wrap party. Sakuya gets embarrassed and her friend says that it's true. Tenchi is behind the booth stirring the crepe batter. He's a bit embarrassed as he heard the girls conversation. The girls arrive at Tenchi's apartment, but he's not there. The girls wonder where he is considering it's a Sunday. He wasn't at the shrine, but Kiyone thinks that since it's close to noon, he probably went to get something to eat. Sasami is concerned that they should've told Tenchi that they were coming. Ayeka says that since he gets evasive whenever Sakuya comes up, they need to surprise him and tell him to set the record straight. Washu suggests that they not stand around, but go inside. Kiyone says that the door is locked. Washu brought along her "power glove" to open the door. She opens it, but actually crushes it. No one is in the apartment. They decide to wait for him, but Ryo-oki finds a poster for the school's festival. Tenchi and Sakuya are eating lunch. Sakuya asks Tenchi if he wants to go to a concert at 2:00. Tenchi doesn't mind, but wonders if it's okay for them to leave the crepes booth. Sakuya says that everyone will be at the concert, so no one will buy crepes. Tenchi understands and says that they should clean up the booth first. Sakuya agrees. The girls arrive at the festival. They want to have fun. Mihoshi wants some food, but Kiyone has to remind her that money is tight. They decide to split up and look for him. Yugi is watching from above as well. Ryoko is watching a soap opera. Nobuyuki asks Ryoko if she's seen his money. She says that she hasn't. She wonders if she should've gone with the others. Tenchi is washing dishes. He thinks he sees Ayeka, but doesn't believe it. He hears Sasami calling for Ryo-oki and then sees Sasami. He's starting to freak. He wonders what everyone is doing at the festival. He hears gunshots. He runs to see what's going on. Mihoshi is at a target practice booth and used her Galaxy Police gun. Kiyone is petrified. Tenchi wants to know what they're doing. Mihoshi tells him that they've been looking for him. Tenchi wants to know if something happened. They hear Ryo-oki screaming and then an explosion from the science lab. Ryo-oki is being chased by some of the science students with various medical tools.. The teacher says that he's discovered a new species and plans on dissecting Ryo-oki. Instead, she turns in to her mecha form and tears the place apart. Tenchi scolds Ryo-oki for what he did. Another explosion happens on the other side of the school. Some students are building a robot, but a unit is destroyed. Washu comes in and tells them all about mechanics. Sakuya is at the booth wondering where Tenchi is. Tenchi is screaming at Ayeka for overreacting. Apparently, some students told her that Tenchi was in a class room, but they lied to her in the attempts of getting her alone, so she blew the room up. He scolds her because everyone worked their hardest to make it the best festival and she ruined it. She said she didn't mean any harm. Tenchi doesn't know why she came to Tokyo, but he's too busy to hear about it. He tells Ayeka to wait for him at his apartment and he'll hear what she has to say when he gets home. Suddenly, a giant rat rolls by. Tenchi knows what Washu is behind it. The rat starts running over things and even a booth. Tenchi tells Washu to stop it, but she says that the power switch was in the way, so she took it out. The rat will run until the batteries run out. The rat starts tearing some booths apart. Tenchi goes to save Sakuya. Kiyone uses her gun to stop the rat and Ayeka puts up a shield to protect everyone. After the smoke clears, the crepes booth is destroyed. Tenchi screams "I've had enough!" Tenchi tells everyone to go home. He tells them that they cause nothing but problems when they're around. The girls decide to leave and slowly do. They are in shock that Tenchi yelled at them. Even Sakuya is surprised. Ryoko has arrived at Tenchi's apartment, but sees the crushed door. She goes in, but doesn't see anyone home. Night falls and the wrap party begins. Tenchi and Sakuya are on the roof enjoying the view. Tenchi told her why the girls came and that they ruined the festival. Regardless, Sakuya said she had fun and that she DID get to make crepes with Tenchi. Tenchi was worried about the booths getting destroyed. Sakuya said that they were going to get broken down once the festival ended, anyway. Tenchi apologizes. Sakuya says that he doesn't have to apologize since it wasn't his fault. Sakuya remembers that she forgot to thank the girls for saving them. Tenchi tells her not to worry about it. Sakuya doesn't think that's the right attitude. Tenchi asks Sakuya if she's cold. She says that she isn't. She also says that it's kind of sad when a festival ends. She puts her head on Tenchi's shoulder. She tells Tenchi that she didn't plan on saying anything to him at the Wrap Party. She says that she doesn't believe in the legend and that if she can stay with him every day, she'd be happy. She also says that it sometimes feels like he's really distant. She said that she was looking at him when he was yelling at Ayeka and the others and she thought to herself that she never saw Tenchi look that serious before. She got jealous of the others and then got really sad. Tenchi grabs her and Sakuya says "What am I saying? It's like I can't get things straight in my head."Tenchi places his hand on the side of her head. She closes her eyes and Tenchi and Sakuya kiss for the first time. Ryoko shows up at the Wrap Party. She sees everyone flirting with one another and wonders where Tenchi is. She decides to go to the roof for a better view. She looks down, but suddenly realizes that someone is behind her. She turns to see Tenchi and Sakuya kissing. She can't believe what she's seeing. She calls Tenchi a "stupid jerk" and disappears. Yugi's crystals are now together and glowing. Her charges can't believe it. She says "So it begins. The break up of the Masaki family..." |
