• Tenchi Muyo! (also known as Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA) - the original Tenchi series that established the main characters and plot. The series is comprised of three OVAs.
• Tenchi Muyo! OVA 3 (also known as Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 3) - The current continuation of the Tenchi Muyo! storyline.
• Tenchi Universe (also known as Tenchi Muyo!, TV) - a spin-off of Tenchi Muyo! OVA that kept the same characters and general storyline continuity.
• Tenchi in Tokyo (also known as Shin Tenchi Muyo) - another spin-off of Tenchi Muyo! OVA, but unlike Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo breaks slightly from the original established storyline continuity and introduces quite a few new characters and a markedly different drawing style.
• Tenchi Muyo! GXP (GXP stands for Galaxy Police) - almost a completely different series, GXP ushers in a new storyline and new main characters. The focus is no longer on Tenchi but rather on the officers at the Galaxy Police.
